Connecticut State Capitol Building Hartford, Connecticut
For the restoration of the Hall of the House of Representatives in Connecticut’s State Capitol Building, JaffeHolden Acoustics implemented new acoustical treatments without marring the chamber’s turn-of-the-century ambiance. Components of the legislature’s electronic sound system and voting system, which were also designed by JaffeHolden, were integrated into new desks that match the room’s priceless period pieces.
GE Energy Finance Systems Headquarters Stamford, Connecticut
GE’s Energy Financial Services Division invests in energy resources around the world. Completed in 2008, their 280,000 sf headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut includes a two-story, 24 occupant conference room, several smaller conference rooms, and a 65 seat auditorium, which all have video conferencing capabilities. Jaffe Holden provided room acoustic, sound isolation, and mechanical systems noise control design for the project.

Louis Dreyfus Commodities Wilton, Connecticut
Louis Dreyfus Commodities has been one of the leading merchandisers and traders in international agricultural commodity markets since 1851. It’s 57,000 square foot offi ces in Wilton, Connecticut include a boardroom and several smaller conference rooms with video conferencing capabilities. Michigan State Capitol Lansing, Michigan
A top priority in the restoration of the Michigan Capitol was to improve speech intelligibility in the Senate and House chambers while preserving the rooms’ architectural heritage and grandeur. Responding to this challenge, JaffeHolden designers specified acoustic treatments that respect the building’s historic fabric and implemented sound systems that enhance the day-to-day functioning of the Michigan Legislature.

Preserving architectural character while introducing sophisticated sound systems and corrective acoustic treatments was also a major goal of the Ohio Statehouse renovation. Through careful and thoughtful design, JaffeHolden designers successfully integrated stateof-the-art audio, video, and voting systems into the House and Senate chambers’ landmark interiors, greatly enhancing acoustic quality without compromising aesthetics.
Pernod Ricard USA Corporate Headquarters Purchase, New York
Jaffe Holden provided room acoustics, sound isolation, and mechanical systems noise control design for the headquarters of the premium spirits and wine supplier in the United States. The project included a Boardroom and several smaller video conference rooms. Particularly challenging was noise control of the base building mechanical systems comprising roof mounted air conditioning units.

Jaffe Holden was brought in to address teleconference system speech intelligibility issues being experienced when the room is occupied by up to 40 people. Additional microphones were recommended at the perimeter of the room to pick up occupants’ voices that were otherwise remote from the main microphones on the conference table.

Wylie Civic Center Wylie, Texas
The Wylie Civic Center is a municipal complex comprised of three buildings: City Hall, Recreation Center, and the City Library. The City Hall features the Council Chambers which are a unique octagonal/circular shape. This proposed an acoustical challenge in controlling reflections. The room features alternating bands of absorptive fabric panels and detailed millwork panels. Other spaces within the City Hall include the Mayor’s offi ce suite, executive conference rooms, and both private and open office areas. Spaces included in the Library were the Young Adult Lounge, Media Center, the Multipurpose Room, the Children’s Storytelling Room, and a circular reading room. The Recreation Center included a gymnasium, aerobics room, elevated running track, and classrooms. All of these areas needed to be treated properly to provide the appropriate sound environment and to provide adequate sound isolation. Also included in many of the spaces were full audio-video capabilities such as paging, HD-TV screens, projectors and voice reinforcement systems.
