Museum of Fine Arts, Houston

Houston, TX
In 2015, the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, began a campus transformation to establish a 14-acre public campus in the heart of Houston’s museum district. The plan includes a new 164,000 SF building for 20th and 21st century art named the Nancy and Rich Kinder Building in addition to construction of a new 80,000 SF home for the Glassell School of Art. The new Glassell School of Art is designed to house students of both the Studio School and Junior School, as well as residents in the Core Program. It will include classrooms, educational facilities, painting and sculpture studios, a library, a study and resource center, lecture halls, a theater and a restaurant. Jaffe Holden is the acoustic and audio/video consultant of record.
Our acoustics scope of work is within all of the new galleries and educational spaces. Our audio and video scope includes designing all new, state-of-the-art AV systems for the MFAH and the Glassell School. Jaffe Holden is designing infrastructure to support centralized monitoring and operations systems throughout the facility. This gives flexibility to the museum so it can monitor and control events in multiple locations from a single point or disperse control to individual places, as needed.
